2014 Go Big Read

As you probably know, this year's Go Big Read book is I am Malala: The Girl who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban by Malala Yousafzai.

It is the inspirational story of a Pakistani young woman who spoke out for girls' education. Because she refused to be silent, she was shot in the head at age 15 by the Taliban. She recovered and continues to fight for girls' rights to an education. At seventeen, she has become a global symbol of peaceful protest and the youngest winner ever for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Join Shiza Shahid, the co-founder of the Malala Fund, for the Go Big Read Keynote Presentation! Malala is currently in school and thus will be unable to make it to campus.

When: Monday October 27, 7:00-8:30 p.m.
Where: Varsity Hall, Union South

ALSO, join the L&S Honors Program for a special luncheon with Shiza Shahid on
Tuesday October 28, 2014 at 12:15 in Gordon Dining and Event center! This is a great opportunity to ask questions about Malala's journey or the Malala Fund.
