New Sustainability Certificate

Undergraduates can now earn a sustainability certificate through the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies, in partnership with the Office of Sustainability and the Morgridge Center for Public Service!!

Why earn a sustainability certificate?
Sustainability provides a lens for seeing how your education and actions apply to the real world and its future. The certificate offers the chance to pursue interests that complement your major field, broaden your perspective, and learn practical skills to tackle complex problems and make a difference in your life, career and community. 

Curriculum
The certificate requires 12 credits and a community engagement experience. 
Learn about: 
  • Links between natural and human systems
  • Life-cycle thinking
  • Value-generation for energy and other natural resources
  • Role of public policy
  • Multi-perspective emphasis on problem-solving and experiential learning
**Open to any undergraduate except those pursuing the environmental studies major or certificate, or the certificate in engineering for energy sustainability.
