Are you planning to graduate this semester?
Do you have questions about commencement?
This is the first in a series of emails that will provide the details you need to prepare for Spring Commencement.
UW–Madison’s Spring Commencement ceremonies will be held on Friday, May 12 and Saturday, May 13. Make sure you know which ceremony to attend, and where!

Commencement for all undergraduate, law and master’s degree candidates will be held on Saturday, May 13 at Camp Randall Stadium. Graduates need to be seated by 11:20 a.m. The ceremony will begin at 12 noon and last for 75 minutes. Haven’t heard who the Commencement keynote speaker is yet? Check out this announcement video.
Whether you are an undergraduate or graduate student, everyone who intends to graduate must complete the following graduation checklist:
Let us know you are graduating! Complete the apply to graduate application in the Student Center of My UW. This ensures your name is printed in the commencement program. All graduates must complete their application by Friday, March 31. If you have already applied to graduate, are wondering if you have applied or want to check if your information has been entered correctly, access the graduation application and make any necessary updates. A demo is also available.
Get your commencement attire! Check out the University Book Store's graduation timeline for additional cap and gown details.
Save the date with family and friends! No tickets are required to attend either commencement ceremony, and there is no limit to the number of guests a graduate may bring. Be sure to alert your friends and family about the event dates and times, and direct them to the commencement website for information about planning their trip to Madison.
Celebrate! Each school and college will celebrate its graduates with a recognition event during commencement week. You will hear more about these events directly from your school or college as details become available. You can also check our events page for more details.
Still have questions? Find answers at www.commencement.wisc.edu, including information for you and your family via FAQs specific to each ceremony, whether at Camp Randall Stadium or at the Kohl Center.
Congratulations, soon-to-be graduate! You’re just three months away from celebrating an achievement that has been years in the making. Next month, you’ll learn more about the Student Philanthropy Campaign and how you can get in on a photo opportunity atop one of our campus icons. We look forward to celebrating with you in May!
