Serve as a Student Representative on the L&S Faculty Honors Committee

The governing body of the L&S Honors Program seeks one student member to represent Honors students, alongside a currently serving student representative. This is a tremendous opportunity to make an impact on the Honors Program and to learn first-hand about academic governance. The two student members have voting positions on a committee eager for student input on decisions. The FHC is responsible for Honors policy in the College of Letters & Science and evaluates proposals for research and other grants.

The Honors student representatives on the Faculty Honors Committee (FHC) must make themselves available for three to four meetings (1.5 hours long) per semester. Meeting times will be decided by a Doodle poll that goes to all committee members at the beginning of each semester.
Interested? Please submit a letter of interest to Prof. Sabine Gross, the L&S Honors Program's Director, explaining why you would like to be a member of the Faculty Honors Committee. Please include details on how your background and experience will contribute to the FHC. Also, please indicate your other major academic, work, and/or co-curricular commitments for the coming academic year. FHC student representatives should be members in good standing of the L&S Honors Program pursuing either the Honors in the Liberal Arts, Honors in the Major, or Comprehensive Honors degree. We are seeking applicants who will be able to serve multiple years (in other words, those who plan to graduate May 2019 or later).

Letters of interest should be submitted to
director@honors.ls.wisc.edu by the end of the day on Friday, May 19, 2017 with "FHC Student Representative" in the subject line. Questions can be addressed to honors@honors.ls.wisc.edu or director@honors.ls.wisc.edu
