The Exploration Center (part of Cross-College Advising Service) is holding a number of workshops on majors and careers this semester.  Find a list of them below!

The workshops are free, but advanced sign-up is required.

Choosing A Major: In this workshop, you’ll learn how to go about deciding a major. We’ll also discuss: How important is my major? Once I choose a major, then what? Prepare to hear some major myths busted! This workshop is geared toward freshmen who are completely undecided.

What Can I Do With a Psych Major? A psychology major is great preparation for a wide variety of careers! With the skills you learn in psychology -- communication, research, and interpersonal skills, to name a few -- your options are wide open. Come to this workshop to explore your interests and strengths, and to discover the many professions a psych major can lead to.

Careers in Occupational Therapy: If you are interested in a healthcare profession which allows you to help others live life to the fullest, occupational therapy might be for you! Come to this workshop to explore this exciting field, and learn about how to become an occupational therapist.

What Can I Do With an English or Philosophy Major: Good news! These majors provide skills and experiences that employers value. Come to this workshop to discover your unique talents and how to market them.

Which Biology Major is for Me? There are more than 35 biology-related majors at UW-Madison, so simply knowing you want to major in biology is not enough. In this workshop, you’ll get an overview of the tremendous variety of biology majors here. You’ll also learn how to volunteer and gain research experience in the biological sciences, and get a glimpse into the career possibilities in biology.

Careers in Physical Therapy: Are you curious about the physical therapy profession? Have you heard of a Doctor of Physical Therapy professional degree? In this session you’ll learn about the various aspects of physical therapy practice and the educational paths to becoming a physical therapist.

Making the Most of Your Language-Learning: If you love studying languages, this workshop is for you! Come and learn about the many opportunities on campus and in the community to build on your language skills and international interests. This workshop is geared toward freshmen and sophomores.

Making the Most of Your Summer: What are you doing this summer? How about using some of that time to gain more self-awareness and explore careers? Even if you’re working or taking classes most of the summer, there are steps you can take to further your knowledge about who you are and what’s out there in the world of work. Let us help you set some goals and gain more clarity!
