Wisconsin AHEC - Community Health Internship Program and Wisconsin Express

Community Health Internship Program (CHIP) links undergraduate, recent graduate, and graduate student interns with local health departments, community health centers, tribal health centers, community-based organizations, and other agencies throughout the state to address a variety of public health issues. Projects vary widely to suit interns' interests and abilities. Mentors provide technical support and assistance and facilitate shadowing opportunities to help interns gain an understanding and appreciation of the broad range of public health activities undertaken at the local level.

Wisconsin Express is a week-long cultural immersion placement for health professions students from all majors nearing completion of their degree/certification. There are 11 community/regional sites this year. Each site welcomes a small group (typically about 8 students) who plunge into interprofessional team-building while exploring the local population's health resources, challenges, community organizations, environment, and culture.
