Center for Pre-Health Advising office is hiring two Peer Mentors/Office Assistants

The Center for Pre-Health Advising works with students who are applying to health professions programs after completing their undergraduate degree.  We are hiring 2 students to work as peer mentors at the SOAR Academic Connections Fair this summer and in our office. At SOAR, the Peer Mentor will talk with incoming freshman and their parents about our office and the services we provide.

For summer 2013, we are looking for two students who can work 15-20 hours/week, or one student who would like to work 35 hours/week. The student(s) must be available to work Monday-Thursday from 4:30-6:00 pm for the dates of the Academic Connections Fair. During fall semester, the student(s) will continue to work approximately 10 hours a week during the academic year.  Anticipated start date: May 15

Strong candidates will have some office-related experience, should be able to work both independently and collaboratively, be detail-oriented and possess excellent communication, problem-solving, and organization skills. It is preferred, but not required, that candidates have experience creating marketing materials such as fliers and postcards.

Job responsibilities include:
·         Serving as a Peer Mentor at the SOAR Academic Connections Fair
·         Contributing to the Center for Pre-Health Advising’s social media presence
·         Serving as a receptionist for the Center for Pre-Health Advising office
·         Scheduling advising appointments, data entry and general office duties
·         Assisting with research and professional development projects for the office
·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office
