Summer Volunteer Opportunities at the Lussier Community Education Center

If you plan on staying in Madison over the summer and are looking to volunteer you time and get involved see all the opportunities below!

SUMMER SWIM HELPERS
Give a youth the opportunity to learn how to swim! Swim helpers will assist program staff in bringing kids to the pool and helping kids in the water during class time.
Monday/Wednesday 1:00-4:00 p.m.

SUMMER LUNCH BUDDIES
Lunch buddies will sit with our elementary-age youth and help maintain a clean, orderly and safe eating environment.
Monday-Thursday Noon-1:00 p.m.

SUMMER RECREATION ASSISTANT
Do you love summer camp and working with youth? Volunteer to assist with daily recreation activities such as sports and art projects. Assistants should plan to volunteer on a regular, ongoing basis.
Monday or Wednesday 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Tuesday or Thursday 1:00-4:00 p.m.

DOUBLE DUTCH INSTRUCTOR
Do you know how to double dutch? Do you like working with youth? Help teach our 5-11 olds how to spin and jump rope during our summer camp recreation time. Ideal candidates would be available for one hour on a weekly basis.
Monday or Wednesday 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

ROOM & VAN ORGANIZER
Work behind the scenes….Organizers will help clean and tidy-up classroom cabinets, shelves, chairs and books. Volunteers may also help clean
our van that is used to transport kids on weekly field trips.
Once per week, times are flexible

SUMMER FIELD TRIP VOLUNTEER
Have fun being a role model for youth as you travel around the greater Madison area participating in fun enrichment activities. Volunteers should have a background working with youth.
Friday 9:00a.m.-4:00 p.m. (full-day, ongoing basis)

RECORDING STUDIO INSTRUCTOR
The instructor will supervise and mentor students using sound/music software and equipment in the LCEC recording studio. The instructor may lead lessons on specific topics (such as using ProTools or recording tips) or simply oversee
students in the area.

SUMMER CAMP TUTOR
Help our teens who attend summer school with homework and study skills. Volunteers with a background in math and science are preferred. Students needs will vary so ideal volunteer will be flexible and patient.

SPECIFIC ACTIVITY INSTRUCTOR
Share your talent! Do you have a passion or skill you’d like to share with our teens? Our summer program is looking for one-time or ongoing art, health & wellness, cooking, and recreation lessons from patient, reliable adults in the
community. 

One Time Volunteer Activities

COMMUNITY DINNER SUPPORT
Volunteer as an individual or a group to support our monthly community dinners. Multiple positions are available. Set-up, tear down, servers, greeters/hosts, decorations. We are also looking for an organized, reliable volunteer who is interested in being a part of our planning team.
4th Thursday of the month 4:00-7:30 p.m.

FLYER DISTRIBUTION TEAM
Volunteers are needed approx. twice per month to distribute flyers throughout Wexford Ridge neighborhood. Approx. 1 hour commitment.
Flyers can only be distributed during the hours the apartment complex office is open: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. & 1:15 p.m.-4:00 p.m.

CENTER-BASED OPPORTUNITIES RECEPTIONIST
The receptionist serves as the first point of contact for people coming to the Lussier Community Education Center. This person plays a large role by welcoming and connecting people to the center and doing light administrative duties.
Monday 2:30-5:30 p.m.
Wednesday & Friday 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

FOOD PANTRY ON-SITE FOOD PANTRY SHOPPERS
We are seeking adults who are willing to help with a brief set-up of the Food Pantry (organizing dry goods, frozen foods, produce and shopping bags), and then helping visitors shop for food according to Food Pantry guidelines.
Wednesday 6:30—8:15 p.m.

FOOD PANTRY DIRECTOR
We are seeking adults who are willing to help run our Food Pantry. This includes registering and signing-in all visitors, directing Food Pantry shoppers, organizing food as needed, updating our inventory sheets, and making recommendations on food that needs to be purchased to restock the shelves in preparation for the next Food Pantry.
Wednesday 6:30—8:15 p.m.

FOOD DRIVE VOLUNTEER
Support our pantry by organizing a food drive with your neighbors, your social clubs or your friends at work. Donations can be or large or small as you’d like. Contact our volunteer coordinator for details and a list of regularly needed items.
