Health Professions Shadowing Program (HPSP)
The Center
for Pre-Health Advising invites you to
apply for the Health Professions Shadowing Program (HPSP).
We have partnered with UW Health to offer UW-Madison
students a two-week residential shadowing program in early August 2017. The
program is designed to help students underrepresented in healthcare build a
network of connections with professionals. Over the course of the program,
students will learn about current trends in health care
from providers in our community
through presentations, visits to health facilities, and shadowing
at UW Hospital.
Program dates: July 31 - August 11, 2017
Eligibility:
1. Must be in good academic standing with school
or college.
2. Students must be full-time UW-Madison
students who have completed at least 2 semesters of coursework on the
UW-Madison campus. Thus, incoming freshman will not be selected nor will
graduating seniors.
3. Applicants must lack connections to health
care professionals, and must have minimal to no shadowing experience.
4. Applicants must be from groups
underrepresented in the health professions, including, but not limited to:
ethnic and racial minorities, first generation college students, and students
from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds.
5. Students may NOT apply if they are in the
process of applying to a professional program.
6. Selected participants must be available to
attend the entire program.
7. Selected participants must provide proof of
immunizations, complete a background check, and attend a hospital orientation
prior to the last day of classes.
