Register for the Senior Honors Thesis Symposium

Calling all senior thesis writers!

Are you interested in sharing your thesis research with fellow Honors students? Curious about the work your peers are doing in majors throughout the College of Letters & Science? If so, now is the time to register for the L&S Honors Program’s seventh annual Senior Honors Thesis Symposium!

This event is an exciting opportunity to present your research to your peers, faculty, and university staff, as well as your family and friends. Your thesis need not be picture-perfect in order to present; rather, we encourage you to embrace this opportunity to discuss your findings thus far, your methods, and the research experience.

If you are planning to participate, please register here and save the date: Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM at Memorial Union. Registration is free and includes a light breakfast, a lunch, and a reception. We will provide you with a more detailed program for the event as the date approaches, but please note that all presenters are expected to attend the entire symposium. Please register to participate in the symposium no later than Sunday, April 1st. Faculty, friends and family who are interested will be able to register to attend the symposium here.

All students writing a Senior Thesis are invited to participate. If you received a Senior Honors Thesis Award from our office, you are required to participate in the symposium. You still must officially register so that we have your title and abstract to include in the planning. If you received a Hilldale award, participation in our event will fulfill your obligation to present your findings at the Undergraduate Research Symposium.

In preparation for the symposium, we will be offering a workshop on how to give an academic talk on Monday, March 19th from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. in the Washburn Observatory Library. More information about that workshop will be sent out closer to that date.

To students who are not completing a senior honors thesis this year: you are still welcome to attend! You can see what a senior thesis is like, and support your friends as they present. Just register as a guest, or consider moderating a panel (register to moderate here).

If you have any questions about this event or registration, please call Matt Kohlstedt at the Honors Program office at (608) 262-2454 or email matt.kohlstedt@wisc.edu. We look forward to celebrating your hard work with you!
