Consider Taking Molecular Ecology 624
Molecular genetics techniques h ave revolution ized t he way biologists address questions in evolution, ecology and conservation. Thi s course surveys recen t developments in the field of Molecular Ecology and provides the theoretical background necessary to conduct research in this topic. This is an upper div ision undergraduate and graduate level course, w ith and honors option, covering three hours of instruction per week. Course Objecti ves: The main objectives of the course are to help students 1) develop an understanding of the importance of genetic diversity to species biology, 2) understand how different ecological and evolutionary processes shape genetic variation, 3) learn which genetic m ethods are appropriate fo r answering scientific questions, and 4) gain expertise in visualizing and interpreting genetic data. Learn how to answer questions such as: How are different organi sms relat ed? How do speci es respond to past and present e nvironmental change? Does ...
