Wisconservation
Wisconservation is a new sustainability engagement initiative to promote resource stewardship. This program is designed for all students who care about the environment and want to protect our natural resources.
UW–Madison also considers resource stewardship a priority,
which is why it is listed as a primary objective in the
university’s Campus Strategic Framework. Wisconservation offers
everyone on campus -- including students, faculty, and staff -- the
chance to help work toward this important goal by promoting conservation
both on and off campus.
Wisconservation has three main strategies:
Conserve 24/7: For the month of March, community
members are invited to participate in Conserve 24/7, a series of daily
conservation challenges. The Office of Sustainability will post new
challenges every day to this
blog. Each challenge includes three components — learn, act, and
reflect — and is designed to take fewer than 15 minutes. Anybody can join
in on the fun, and all participants are encouraged to share their experiences
with peers and colleagues in person and via social media.

Event Series: The Wisconservation event series will
include community events related to conservation themes including recycling,
energy use, nature appreciation, and more. All events are free and open to
the public. If you'd like to submit an event to be included in this series,
please reach out to Olivia Sanderfoot (UW-Madison Office of Sustainability) via email (osanderfoot@wisc.edu).
Residence Hall Challenge: Students who live in UW
Housing are competing to see which residence hall community can reduce their
energy consumption and increase their recycling weights. Those that improve in
both categories will win a prize -- a bonfire and s'mores out at Picnic Point
With everyones help, UW-Madison can make a difference in preserving our environment and natural resources!
