Wisconsin Open Education Community Fellowships

The Morgridge Center for Public Service has opened up a new cycle of the Wisconsin Open Education Community Fellowship (WOECF) for projects to be completed during summer 2016. Complete fellowship information is available on the Morgridge Center for Public Service website.

The WOECF invites undergraduate UW-Madison students to collaborate with a public service organization in a Wisconsin community to design and implement a community engagement project during summer 2016. The project must address either a conservation or literature education effort that coincides with the topic of one of six MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) UW-Madison faculty are offering during 2015. Each undergraduate fellow will receive a $3,000 stipend and up to an additional $1,000 for project expenses.

This is a competitive fellowship and is an excellent opportunity for students to engage with their communities, conduct research, and/or build professional networks that may lead to employment opportunities. In fact, each of the 2015 WOECF fellows was offered a job by his or her community partner either during or after their project! We are able to fund up to 7 projects during the 2016 cycle, so if interested, please begin your application soon!

Application materials are now online and will be accepted through March 18. However, students who submit proposals by February 19 will receive feedback before the final deadline. All projects must include the active participation of a faculty/staff mentor at UW-Madison and a community partner in the Wisconsin community in which the student wishes to work.

Dave Lassen (dlassen@wisc.edu) will be holding office hours for interested students from 11a.m. to 1 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday in the Morgridge Center for Public Service, Room 154 Red Gym.
